Great Weekend Of Motorsport At Goodwood
Great weekend of motorsport. We started off with a very productive test day on the Silverstone International circuit on Saturday. Back in the McConnell Mason Gallery Ferrari 458 I’m racing with David Mason in the 2014 Britcar British Endurance Championship. We’re run by FF Corse who did their usual great job. We got a lot of running and worked through our programme with great results.
Then on Sunday, it was down to Goodwood for the amazing 72nd Member’s Meeting. A complete feast of motorsport. It had all the atmosphere of the Revival without the crowds. A varied race bill and it seemed to be a huge hit. Stunning weather helped too.
Calum was racing Kevin Doyle’s 1979 ex Tom Walkinshaw Mazda RX7. This is the car that won the 1981 Spa 24 hours so it has a real pedigree. I was sharing with Patrick Doyle who races it regularly. We’d done a road car day together at Goodwood but this was the first time I’d seen the car. It’s stunning.
A very special bit of machinery with a lot of potential.
Sadly, due to an engine issue, we didn’t finish the race but what a beast. It’s amongst the loudest cars I’ve ever driven and there’s definitely a lot more to come from it.
I’m very grateful to Kevin, Denise and Patrick for the opportunity and hope to be back in it. Magnificent.

“My son bought a gift voucher for the Calum Lockie ultimate passenger experience. Calum said he would be gentle but still hit 119 mph around Thruxton race circuit.”
