Titan Historic Racing Team
The 2014 season is blasting along at a furious pace! Recently, I found myself on a plane to Aarhus, Denmark for the annual Classic Race Aarhus around the streets of that town.
I was invited by Lord Gregory Thornton to join his Titan Historic Racing Team.
He was taking 5 cars, among them Ronnie Petersen’s March F1 car and the ex Peter Gethin Chevron B24 F5000 car ( the only F5000 car to win an F1 event overall). This was to be my ‘mount’ for the weekend. I was very excited as I have not sat in a single-seater car for donkey’s years. And it was running 604 bhp and only weights about 650 kg!
Narrow Streets In The Town Of Aarhus
The streets were narrow. We were belting along the straights topping 160 mph with concrete blocks lining the course. What a blast!! The only downside was that Prince Joachim of Denmark wanted to drive my car. Guess what? I stepped aside!!
I’d never heard of this historic festival. It’s an incredible event. Great atmosphere, a superb collection of cars in stunning settings. Well worth a visit for any brits: competitors and spectators.
A huge thank you to Gregory, his team and the Classic Race Aarhus organisers for making me so welcome and putting on such an excellent weekend.
There’s some video on Titan’s amazing YouTube channel here which gives an idea of the circuit.

“My son bought a gift voucher for the Calum Lockie ultimate passenger experience. Calum said he would be gentle but still hit 119 mph around Thruxton race circuit.”
